On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Austrian Fashion Association hosts this year's Austrian Fashion Awards Gala, where the winners of the Fashion Award of the City of Vienna and the outstanding artist award for experimental fashion design of the BMKÖS (Austria’s Ministry of the Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sports) will be presented. 2024 also marks the 10th anniversary of the Austrian Fashion Association as one of the most important promoters of Austrian fashion design – another reason to celebrate together with guests, designers and companions in the historic Art Nouveau theater in Vienna's Otto-Wagner-Complex.

Vienna, September 12, 2024 – The Austrian Fashion Association has been hosting the Austrian Fashion Awards as a partner of the City of Vienna and the federal government for 10 years now and has made the annual awards ceremony the most relevant event for up-and-coming fashion designers in Austria over the past decade. To date, the Austrian Fashion Awards have already provided a major stage for designers such as Arthur Arbesser, Christoph Rumpf, Florentina Leitner, Wendy Jim and Jana Wieland, who now run relevant fashion businesses, not least thanks to the funding they have received. This year, the Austrian Fashion Awards will take place on November 14 with an extraordinary show line-up in the historic Art Nouveau theater in Vienna’s Otto-Wagner-Complex, where, in addition to the collections of the award winners, designs by outstanding fashion talents who received funding from the Austrian Fashion Association last year will also be presented.

Honoring this year's award winners
In line with the Austrian Fashion Association's commitment to internationality, interdisciplinarity, forward-thinking and diversity, two different, high-caliber juries once again decided on the winners of this year's awards. Costume and set designer Aino Laberenz, stylists Karen Kaiser, Nell Kalonji and Roshi Porkar, Head of Designs and Collections at Acne Studios, made the decision for the Fashion Award of the City of Vienna, which promotes the sustainable career development and professionalization of young fashion labels. A national jury consisting of the author and creative director Alexandra Bondi de Antoni, Angela Stief, Director of the Albertina Modern and Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at the Albertina, as well as Simone Springer, fashion designer and founder of rosa mosa and winner of the outstanding artist award for experimental fashion design of the BMKÖS 2023, decided on the awarding of the outstanding artist award 2024, which honors trend-setting and innovative positions.

A look back at the past funding year
At the center of the evening will be a fashion show featuring the collections and designs the supported winners of 2023 have been working on in the meantime. As part of the AFA Support program, with which the Austrian Fashion Association supports up-and-coming designers whose work is innovative and of supra-regional interest, nine talents were awarded a total of 120,000 euros last year: Anastasiia Shpagina, Christoph Rumpf, David Brunnbauer, Florentina Leitner, Hvala Ilija, Inga Nemirovskaia, Jennifer Milleder, Larissa Falk and Not Yet FYI. In addition, selected designers who received a Start scholarschip of the BMKÖS in 2023 are also part of the show: Cody Klippel, НИКО, Tina Lichtenstoeger and Vanessa Schreiner.

“I am particularly pleased that this year the Austrian Fashion Association is responsible for shining the spotlight on the promising young talents of Austrian fashion design with the Austrian Fashion Awards for the 10th time. Looking back, it is clear that our mission to promote a fashion design practice that is artistically experimental but always responsible is bearing fruit. We look forward to continuing to empower fashion designers to make a positive impact on the industry and society as a whole,” says Camille Boyer, head of the Austrian Fashion Association.
